By local Stamford, NY author, T.M. Bradshaw
This is the story of the early days of the Mirror, a newspaper that started as a small slip of election results in Bloomville, New York in 1851. Its founder, S. B. Champion, moved it to Stamford, New York in 1870 and continued as editor until his death in 1903, when it was briefly taken over by his son. In 1905, it was sold to Leo DeSilva, who ran it until 1948, expanded and merged with other papers. The stories of these two men are the story of the paper and of Stamford, long known as "The Queen of the Catskills."
